NF: information books. Non-chronological reports, thesauruses, dictionaries: Use an on-line dictionary to look up the meanings of words and to translate words into another language.

Feelings and relationships: Read a story about relocation. What would it be like to arrive in a country not speaking the language? Choose a language that the class don't speak and create a multisensory experience.

NF: instructions, dictionaries without illustrations, thesauruses.

Exploring singing games: In the multilingual classroom children could share their singing games/ rhymes or, alternatively, an overseas adult visitor could provide an example.
Exploring rhythmic patterns: Investigate the rhythm of sentences in foreign languages. Get a native speaker to chant a poem. Pupils follow the written transcription and then chant along. Pupils perform the poem.
